News: Surfside Board Meeting October 30, 2020 ZOOM @ 3:30 pm |
Good afternoon, Surfside Boarders:
Please review the attached Agenda Oct 30, 2020 and August 28, 2020 Minutes for our previously scheduled ZOOM meeting 10/30/2020 at 3:30PM. Please be on computer standby as I will be sending the group Email invitation about 3:28 PM in time for us all to check in. It will be obvious to long-term Board members that this Fall Meeting Agenda is relatively brief as we have been on Club-sponsored-events hiatus due to Covid-19.
This notice is going to Tim Warlin for our Teamopolis Website also, so any member who wishes to listen in may request that she or he be invited. |

The existence of Surfside depends on dues-paying members. The Board has re-authorized $30 single and $45 family annual dues payable by June 30. After July 1 subject to $5 surcharge. This continues to be the biggest bargain on the Central Coast. Checks may be mailed to Treasurer Robert Wills at 260 Butte Drive, Los Osos, CA 93402 . |

Sad Morning, Surfsiders:
For a number of reasons your Surfside Board has voted to cancel Saturday morning tennis competition until the Covid-19 crisis is contained/controlled :
1. Majority vote of the Board 2. MBHS courts are locked as of Wednesday as reported by Maurice Gendron 3. The County of San Luis Obispo has issued an executive order that all people must shelter at home starting March 19. While the order states that people may leave their homes to engage in outdoor activities, the club cannot sanction group gatherings.

Congratulations to the following elected officers of Surfside Tennis Club for 2019-2020:
- President -------- Carl Pherson
- Vice President - Keith Crowfoot
- Secretary -------- Carolyn Blackman
- Treasurer--------- Robert Wills
We voted to continue Saturday Tennis at Morro Bay High School. We also voted to continue the use of playing cards at Saturday Tennis to determine teams and courts. This method was preferred over the laborious previous approach of using assigned numbers and assignment charts to determine teams and courts. First Friday Tennis will continue there as well. Look for updates during the week which may move start time from 5pm to 5:30pm. Several of us have gathered on the remaining Friday evenings for a few sets. If you are interested in more information about this, contact Rose Bodrian at rbodrian@gmail.com or Lara Henry at slolivin@gmail.com We also discussed the need for a Saturday Tennis organizer and a Tournament Chair to step up from the ranks for the Spring Fling and future tournaments. So far, Lara Henry has shown some interest.
