Hi Tennis Folks,
A huge thanks from the Morro Bay High School Girls Tennis Team to everyone who made Saturday's tournament a huge success! We had sixty players participate in the tournament and they were joined by supporters and fans to make it a truly festive day.
Congratulations to all the winners!
John Erb and Dina Krull took the title in the advanced division with Myrna Weare and Noreen Alexander coming in second.
In the intermediate division, Surfside member Bill Antaramian teamed up with MBHS team member Tess Badrigian to take 1st place. MBHS boys team member Simon Janzen and friend Chris Gaschen took 2nd place.
And in the novice division, Tess' dad, Bruce Badrigian teamed up with MBHS player Keely Coxwell to win. Taking second place was Coast Union player Michelle Campos and her dad, Ray.
With your support, we raised over $1300 for the girls tennis team. The money raised will go towards uniform purchases, our season-end awards celebration, and training aids and supplies. I also hope to have the team travel to a weekend tournament next year.
A special thanks to our sponsors who provided prizes for the tournament. The Avila Bay Athletic Club was our major sponsor, donating 1-week family passes, a private lesson with Mark Scribner, and six day passes. Thanks also to Sub Sea Tours for donating whale watching tickets for two; to Nibble Nook, who provided a gift certificate for their delicious treats; and to Amanda Mills, who donated a gift certificate for massage therapy from Baywood Body Works.
Thanks again to the Sufside Tennis Club for their continued support, sending a large contingent to participate in our tournament. And to Five Cities Tennis Association for continuing to support our program here in Morro Bay.
Lastly, thanks to all our MBHS girls and their parents who treated tournament participants with all kinds of tasty treats and especially to Mary Franzmann (and her helpers) who coordinated the food and kept the tables fresh and full throughout the day. Morro Bay Coffee Company once again kept our players caffeinated!
I hope everyone had a great time! And I hope to see you all again in the spring to support the boys team!
Thanks!
Kathy
